Shanghai, long deemed China’s most international city, can now claim another national title: that of being home to China's fattest children. A recent survey revealed that of Shanghai’s more than 8m schoolchildren, 15% of the boys and 9.2% of the girls are obese. Both figures were about four percentage points higher than the national averages. Curiously, Shanghai’s students also have the worst vision in the country. (Economist)
